Most school students learn about historical events from textbooks. Rarely do they get the chance to do their own research, dig deep into the evidence and create an exhibition with the information collected, some of ancestors who were involved. ReReeti's WW1 project is connecting young Indians with stories of their forefathers - and making remote narratives relevant.

Many Indians remain unaware of the contribution of Indian soldiers in the Great War.

The little information available on India’s contribution to WW1 focuses mainly on North India's role in it. 'Entrenched' pays special attention to the voluntary contributions of the Bengaluru Cantonment and the Mysore state to the war efforts. ReReeti aim to present this grand past in an exciting way for students and the local community to access and appreciate and thereby feel more connected to the city’s heritage.

Excellent way to teach history. Loved the way children's interpretation and comments were intelligently included.

I loved the way the information was given, in a story format. I loved the trenches. Wish all our history chapters were taught like this.

Student, Bengaluru

I was not aware that Mysore and Bangalore had contributed to this extent in the WW1

Entrenched was put together from months of research and workshops. Held in Bengaluru in two venues, the exhibition was a huge success with students from seven schools visiting the exhibition. Read what some of them said below. In the second phase, the funds raised will help ReReeti reach out to at least 2,500 more school children from private and government schools.

The funds raised will enable 2500 more students to experience the exhibition.
