Fund drive to get children reading

Focus: Children and Youth , Education

BOOKS For All's mission to distribute 1lakh books per year to children who can't afford to buy them is being limited by the high van hire costs of picking up donated books. Help them buy their own vehicle!

To make it possible for every child to develop a reading habit, Books For All-a flagship project of Guzarish offers free door-step pickup of books from individuals, corporates and schools and distribute them to kids across the country who can’t afford to buy them.

Thousands of books are collected in Delhi NCR every week and brought to their warehouse-cum-library. But 30% of the operational costs are eaten up renting a vehicle at daily rates.

All it takes is a little bit from everyone!

Help Books For All reach their goal

Reading is an integral part of a child’s education. Reports claim that kids who read 20 minutes a day score in the 90th percentile on standardised tests. However, for millions of children in India who can't afford to buy a book, reading is a luxury and their education is affected by this inaccessibility. With their own vehicle, Books For All could make daily collections of books being given away and scale to reach 100,000 young minds a year.

Reading enhances a child's development in multiple ways

I am fortunate to be a part of this initiative and make a small contribution in brightening the lives of many children. It gives me immense joy to read the book summaries sent by the kids regularly.

The money raised will be used to buy a pick-up and delivery vehicle - a Tata Ace (CNG) which would require slight modification - plus to pay for registration, insurance etc. Books For All plans to use the saved capital from the cost of hiring a van to hire skilled employees to further boost the team.

With their own vehicle, Books For All can deliver 100,000 recycled books a year
